Selecting variables in PHP code view
Previously, double clicking a string in code view would select the string, but exclude the variable designation (in php specifically, it would not select the $ preceding the variable name). The previous versions for many many years have all done this. I can get used to it, but it may be good for consistency to deselect the $ in these cases?
Before the recent update I could double click a variable and it would include the dollar sign. AFTER this update it went back to not including the dollar sign.
Developers make money by developing quickly. When you are paid by the job and not hourly, you make more when you complete work faster. Any IDE should make developing faster not slower.
Thank you for the hint, it drives me nuts. Press CTRL+Click. OK i can live with it.
Stop doing missed changes and to force us to change our coding style, add option to allow us to choose if we want to select $ or no.

Double click on $var select the variable not the $
Ctrl/Cmd+Double click on $var select the variable and $
if there is any issue in this, please let us know.
$ is not selected on double click on php variable
This is a "bug" for a long time and affecting my productivity for a long time. When I double click on $myvar, only myvar should be selected, not $myvar.
If some people prefer otherwise, then you should put this in setting so that we can decide ourselves.
I've submitted this request before, and you guys have not bothered, not I wonder how this new uservoice is gonna change ANYTHING!
Now I cant take this sh*t anymore.
I am downgrading

Holding CTRL doesn't work (not on Win 10 in any case). It allows you to select multiple (highlight parts of text elsewhere in the code without deselecting previously highlighted items). Something I'll never be using.
I actually like double clicking and getting the $ as well, most of the time I'm replacing hard coded values with variables, but thanks for the tip about CTRL double cliking, that takes away any frustration for me.

This new 'feature' really messes up my workflow and would be great to opt out of.
YES! it's frustrating...

In the current version of Dreamweaver when two clicks on a variable the $ symbol is selected together.
Tip: When you press CTRL and double click on the variable, only the name is selected, without the $ symbol.

Agreed!! This new 'feature' is jacking up my code as many $ are being removed.

Double click to select is now including the $, can we have a setting so we can choose to have it the old way?
It isn't just me: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2233481
I have mentioned this before and so have many others, but why there's no response or action, I HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA then why you have this uservoice site.
Double click shouldn't select $ sign. This is causing much irritation and double work. If some users really like that, then it should be change-able in settings.
So, will anyone respond, I wonder.

Please don't treat the $ in a php variable as text when double-clicking. I often need to paste just the name, without the $. Having to delete the $ is a big waste of time!

The new DWCC2017 has many problems and it is very very slow even on my super new MacBook Pro.I am a professional web designer since 1999 and I have always used DW. It is the first time that I had to downgrade to an older version. Very disappointed as I have a monthly subscription.
A part from this consideration I hope you will adjust this future and I am sure you will.
These are my desiderata:
1) When you select a variable with double click of the mouse in this version the double click selects also the dollar sign. This is a mess!
The previous behavior was perfect. In DWCC15 double click selected only the word without the dollar sign. This was a very good point of DW compare with Netbeans or others. Please give us the possibility to select or deselect this behavior in the preference menu.
2) Introduce CMD+CLICK to navigate in references inside the same program as Netbeans. With CMD+CLICK I need the ability to go directly to my function definition, php code... This behavior is a MUST HAVE FOR ALL PROGRAMMERS!!!
3) SVN versioning
my main problem is when i double click to select an element including the php $ symbol, the past version only selects the "name" of the variable, leaving aside the $ symbol, this new version includes the symbol in the select, how can i only select the name?

In the previous 2015 version, when you doubleclicked on $variablename, it would select everything except the dollar sign, which was great. The 2017 version treats it like one whole text string, which is less than optimal.
