How can we improve Adobe Dreamweaver?

Change the name from Dreamweaver to Muse Editor

The last version of Dreamweaver (2017) is the worst of ever and change a lot of things respect to the last stable version (2015 or even better... CS6).
I think it's time to close Dreamweaver project and rename the 2017 version with the its correct name:
"Muse Editor"

Maybe you could alert old customers with this message:
"End of an Era
The legendary Dreamweaver is no more...
Adobe shut down the software and replace it with Muse Editor"

In this way should be more easy understand the limitations and the bugs with 2017 version development.

        Hi,

        In that case, please select only that code where you want to apply Code Formatting and goto Edit->Code->Apply Source formatting to Selection.

        I can see no difference in the CSS Code Formatting behavior in CC 2015 and CC 2017. Can you guys please elaborate on the issues? In earlier version also the styles used to be pushed to the next line so that they are displayed neatly.

        Hope this helps. As stated earlier, formatting is sometimes a user preference and until the one Dw provides is not breaking your code- it should not be an issue.

        @Niharika - Please reinstate custom CSS code formatting. This is a huge part of our workflow and we're now forced to use a web-based CSS formatter for this task. Our stylesheets need single-line CSS styles and it is not possible to configure this is 2017, as far as I know. Help!

        I want that the google analytics (ant others js code) remain the same, without changing the original and correct formatting (as in the previous versions of Dreamweaver). I think DW 2017 has a big problems with "Apply Source Formatting" with php pages (with html pages works good).

      • Izbuh commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

        To reproduce the issue you need to insert the analytics code on a php page in the head, save it and then "Edit -> Code -> Apply Source Formatting".
        The issue is also present in the last build 2017.5, on mac platform.

        Apply Source Formatting for css missing, server behaviours discontinued + add-on for old panel doesn't work anymore, php code formatting errors, apply source formatting issues with js (e.g. Google Analytics), etc.

        For the last big issue see:
        https://dreamweaver.uservoice.com/forums/382851-adobe-dreamweaver-bugs/suggestions/19006348-apply-source-formatting-issues-with-js-e-g-google

        This is not a generic criticism but is a honest vision of what has become Dreamweaver with Adobe.

        Hi,

        Thanks for sharing your feedback.

        We have a lot of new features in Dreamweaver since the earlier versions and we have upgraded already existing features for more ease of use.

        I agree that with this new update, the workflows that were present earlier have changed a little bit but we feel that they have changed for better. We are still doing the same things that CC 2015 was doing but in an improved way.

        Let us know if you are facing any issues with the functionality, we did be more than happy to help. Hoping to hear more constructive feedback rather than generic criticism.

        Regards,

        Dreamweaver 2017.1

        Edit -> Code -> Apply Source Formatting

        Above commands create wrong source formatting code with javascript as Google Analytics.

        Example, before:
        (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
        (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
        m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
        })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');
        ...

        after:

        ( function ( i, s, o, g, r, a, m ) {
        i[ 'GoogleAnalyticsObject' ] = r;
        i[ r ] = i[ r ] || function () {
        ( i[ r ] . q = i[ r ] . q || [] ) . push( arguments )
        }, i[ r ] . l = 1 * new Date();
        a = s . createElement( o ),
        m = s . getElementsByTagName( o )[ 0 ];
        a . async = 1;
        a . src = g;
        m . parentNode . insertBefore( a, m )
        } )( window, document, 'script', 'https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js', 'ga' );
        ....
