Update DW to properly handle workstation-based symlinks & shared templates
I've used DW for over a decade now and I use it exclusively in code view.
I maintain multiple sites which all share a common page template and code base, such as PHP objects, PHP functions, PHP constants, HTML snippets, images, JS and CSS libraries, etc.
On the server, I have a master directory where all this common code resides and each subdomain implementing them has a symlink to that directory. This when I update the master copy in this directory, all the sites immediately have access to the new resource.
I can mirror none of this on my Mac workstation because DW doesn't know how to process a symlink (aliases in macOS, shortcuts in Windoze) on my local drive. Neither will DW allow me to use a single page template for all my sites.
As a result, I must clone the template as well as the local mater copy of these libraries to each site I've defined in DW. The problem is that these copies quickly get out of sync with the master as the master files evolve.
On top of that, because I have the Enable Related Files box checked, every time I save a page, DW wants to update the master copy of those library files with the local copies I had to make.
All this negatively impacts my productivity.
I've attached an info graphic to illustrate what I'm wanting.
