Put Feature / Misleading ?
When a site home directory is not defined in the Site server settings, the Put feature worked seemingly fine, but no html-files were updated on the website. This may be misleading. Only after defining the home directory, the Put feature worked fine.
If the Put process window doesn't prompt the user, it may be misleading.

Some servers will allow users to Put without the root directory. In those cases, the files obviously will not be on the site's public-facing folder (since DW wouldn't have that info), but may still be on the server. In other cases, the server will allow a connection and and an attempt to Put will appear to upload, but generate numerous errors in the FTP logs.
This isn't a bug as there may be times when a user wants to/can upload to those areas for some reason.
DW can only upload where a site's FTP credentials allow. If a user forgets to define their site's root folder, there's nothing DW can do but attempt what to upload where it's being told.
The FTP Logs screen under Window > Results > FTP Logs will show you what's happening when files are uploaded to an incorrect location.
