Code keeps disappearing
Since the latest upgrade (2017.1), the code view keeps disappearing. I can't find which action makes it happen.
Sometimes closing or opening windows helps, or closing program. I usually work in split view design/code. Switching views or to all code does not fix it.
In any case it renders the program completely unusable.

Hi,
We have fixed a lot of issue related to CodeView getting blank, can you please try the latest update Dw 17.5 and update this thread with your observations?

This is still happening for me as well, and I'm not even using split screen. I'm using the simple code view alone.
It may be dependent upon many files being open.
It may also be a reaction of a search and replace across all open files.
This is current (August 20, 2018), with build 10165.

On DW 2017 and 2018 this occasionally happened to me and a restart of DW fixed the issue. I am now on v18.2 (10165 Build) and I am unable to view ANY code in code view of split view. Restarting no longer works. Reinstalling doesn't work either.

Contrary to Divya B C's comment, this issue has NOT been resolved. I'm using Dreamweaver 2018.2.10165 and I'm staring at a code view that's blank.
I was able to resolve the problem by closing Dreamweaver and remaining my WinFileCache-xxxxxxxx.dat file. This solved the problem for me

Are you serious, this is STILL happening on 2018 18.2 build 10165. This is the most basic and fundamental thing need for developers using dreamweaver. It makes Dreamweaver unusable.

Hey guys, I had the same issue. Unfortunately. there is no fix for Dreamweaver (at least I don't know one) but I was able to "recover" the code. What I did was to open the file in Windows' NOTEPAD. You will see the same "white screen" but if you scroll down, you will be able to find the code.

I am brand new to Dreamweaver and was trying to follow a tutorial on youtube and thought I was going NUTZ because I did NOT see the codes that the youtube instructor was referring to and viewing on their screen. I can confirm that NO other applications or files were open and NO other dreamweaver file was open because I JUST downloaded DW and opened it for the first time. I get a WHITE/Blank screen no matter what view I use (Code, Split, Developer, etc). Nothing there! Tried opening some of the templates, still nothing but empty white space. PLEASE HELP RESOLVE THIS CRIPPLING ISSUE.

There does seem to be a correlation between using Axure for prototyping and Dreamweaver where the Copy and Paste cache makes Axure act screwy and Dreamweaver drop attributes from my code. However, Dreamweaver is screwy like that without touching Axure for days and after resarting so although something is connected there, it is not the reason for Dreamweaver losing my work?

When opening in .php file in code view (code view is my default view), it frequently opens with just a white window. No code, no line numbers, no text, just white a completely blank white window.
Closing and reopening file does nothing. Only way to fix is to close Dreamwrecker altogether and reopen. This mostly happens when switching between sites in site manager.

HI have version 2017.5 and can confirm the issue still exists.
Switching between code and live/design view and switching back shows blank code.

Had to close and reopen.. feels like something is working in the BG.

when we open the HTML files. some times code view showing white screen. every time getting same thing. what was the reason
