Allow longer file activity log, and group "same - not transferred"
Allow longer file activity log.
We have several thousand files. But when we synchronize, the file activity log stops already after something like 300 files. Also, the log lists out "- same - not transferred" for every file not changed. As a result, it is sheer chance if an actual change should happen to be logged.
I don't know that showing changes should be a product of luck in a file activity log. You'd imagine the actual file activity would be relevant for the feature.
Thanks for reporting. We are sorry that you are facing issues with Dreamweaver.
We have a similar issues reported internally, could you please check if your issue is same as reported in thread https://forums.adobe.com/message/9750692#9750692
I'll also add that the reported bug from the linked discussion - DW-4146599 - seems to be too old to see in the open bug list. But it's still as broken as in 2017.
The log is still truncated in Dreamweaver Next Release - 15104 Build.
Attached screen shot where it's not possible to see which 1 file was not successfully transferred.
I would like to reiterate the two points I make:
- Idea: If the log wasn't flooded with unimportant information " - same - not transferred ", it would be much more readable and not as often long enough to be truncated.
- Bug: There's no need to truncate the text log anyway, just make it as long as it need to be. A log that is not complete, is not a log you can trust. The log became much shorter after the update where the code editor was replaced a few years ago.
Additional info: it's a problem with the info, not the displaying of info. If you press "Save log...", it will be cut at the same place.
yes, the issue I am experiencing appears to be the same as described there.
The other part of the idea is to group or filter "same - not transferred" lines in a way that would make it much easier to see the potentially few changes uploaded or downloaded. This could be done while working if they split the log in two, with a "change" log where only changes are appended and an extended log, it could be done retroactive by sorting or applying a filter on the log after it's completed, or it could be done proactive by applying a filter before you apply the changes. Either one would make it much easier to control the result when you have thousands of files but only tens of changes.
