The editor in Dreamweaver 20.2s so slow that I can regularly type ahead.
The editor in Dreamweaver 20.2 Build 15263 is so slow that I can regularly type ahead of the response on the screen, and I sometimes get a “not responding” message.
I am editing an HTML file that is 28KB, but has 20 images of approximately 25 KB each. In addition to the source code there is also the following: bootstrap-4.2.1.css file, custom.css, jquery.fancybox.min.css, nav.inc. footer.inc.
Other open applications include MS Word, Firefox, and Outlook.
All files reside on the my desktop PC, which is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6300 CPU @ 3.80GHz, with 16.0 GB Installed RAM, running a 64-bit OS and Windows 10 Pro, Build 18362.959. No processor has more than a trivial amount of usage and no disk is much more than half used.
BTW, the Dreamweaver editor is slowest when backspacing.

Bug confirmed. Dreamweaver is still usable for me but only because I have a monster spec PC. Dreamweaver.exe is constantly maxing out one of my CPU cores, which is 15% of my total CPU capacity. This occurs even if I don't have a file open. It's not dependent on any action that I can see. I tried the registry fix (Deleting 'Temp FIle List') and it did not fix the problem.

The work-around works by deleting the Temp File list, thank you. This was (is) very frustrating as I had to wait 5 seconds after each code edit even just a simple one letter change.

I have the same experience. Response to typing is so slow version 20.2 is virtually unusable.
I tried to apply the suggestions listed in Adobe user-to-user forum but the situation reverted back soon to being super slow again.
I have rolled back to version 2.0 and the problem is resolved.
I hope the slowness can be resolved soon. And that all users can be informed that the latest version is safe to use again.
Thank you.

I'm experiencing this issue too. I thought it may be my computer but none of my other programs have this issue. I shut down my computer and restarted with no other programs opened but it is still so slow I can literally complete other functions waiting for DW to respond. It is crashing constantly. Didn't have this issue with previous versions.

Same situation. It's unusable pretty much.
I tried the exiting and clearing temp files. I've also disabled windows defender (antivirus). To recreate my situation with a fresh copy of dreamweaver:
Choose open file, type https://test.resurgenceevents.org as the filename. Open it, and add this tag to the HEAD section of the html (without the space before last speechmark needed to post as comment):
<base href="https://test.resurgenceevents.org/ " />
The page loads in split or live view and is nearly unusable, as is the dom tree or anything really. Second(s) of delay to everything.
Also hilarious to try and navigate to the last stylesheet. -
Hi Gene,
Thank you for writing to us. We have found the root-cause of this issue and investigating the same.
Please perform the below work-around to resolve the code view slow response issue and let us know if the issue gets resolved.
1) Quit Dw and open Registry Editor in Windows (Start menu -> type Registry Editor OR Type regedit in Run window)
2) Go to the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver 2020\
3) Delete "Temp File List" folder (*before deleting the folder, recommend taking backup of the same by right clicking on the folder and Export)Thanks,
Nayan
